  • Crochet hook, size 7 (5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

  • Gauge: 16 sts and 14.5 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
    Size: Approx 30 x 36 ins [76 x 91.5 cm].
 
  • With MC, ch 122
 
  • Foundation row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of ch. Ch 1. Turn. 121 sts.
 
  • 1st row: 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sts. 1 sc in next ch sp. 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1. Turn.
 
  • 2nd row: 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch sp. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1. Turn. These 2 rows form pat.
 
  • Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 35 ins [89 cm] ending with a 2nd row of pat. Fasten off.
 
  • Edging: With RS of work facing, join MC with ss at top right corner. Ch 1. Work 99 sc across end of afghan. Work 3 sc in corner. Work 135 sc evenly across side edge. Work 3 sc in corner. Work 99 sc evenly across bottom edge. Work 3 sc in corner. Work 135 sc evenly across other side edge. 470 sc. Join with ss to first sc.
 
  • Next row: *Ch 3. 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook to form picot. 1 sc in each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to end of row. Join with ss to first sc. Fasten off.
