Tip:

Special Stitches:
Pattern stitch = place 5tr in each individually-placed tr, work 1tr in center tr of 5tr shell.
PS = work pattern stitch across.
WP= work pattern (repeat Rows 2+3 of front. If previous row ends with 1tr, work Row 2. If previous row ends with 3tr, work Row 3.)
4dc cluster= (yo, insert hk in next st, pull up a lp, yo, pull thru 2 lps), 4 times, yo, pull thru all 5 lps.

Abbreviations:
beg=beginning
ch=chain
ch3-sp=chain 3 space
dc=double crochet
hk=hook
ind tr =individually-placed treble
lp=loop
rep acr=repeat across
RS=right side
sc=single crochet
sh(s)=shell(s)= 5tr grouping or (2tr,2dc) grouping
sk=skip
sl st=slip stitch
st=stitch
tch=turning chain
tr=treble crochet
tr2tog=treble 2 together
yo=yarn over
(…) or […] = stitch sequence to be repeated as many times as indicated

Tip 1: If work needs to be ripped out, walk with thread and lay it in straight line on floor to prevent tangling before reuse, or wrap thread around piece of cardboard while ripping out.
Tip 2: After placing 5tr in ch, the next ch will be compressed. Be aware of this when counting chains in foundation row.
Tip 3: This row starts a decrease that gives a slight indentation for shaping at the waist (one inch on front and one inch on back). If a straighter look is desired, omit this and WP from Rows 4 – 21.
