MOTIF:
With CA, ch 5; join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring; join with a sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: Join CB in any st, ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, * skip next st, sc in next st, ch 2; rep from * around; join with a sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: Join CA in any ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, * 3 dc in next sp, ch 2; rep from * around; join. Fasten off.

Rnd 4: Join CB in any ch-2 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in same sp, * ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3,** (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around ending at **; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Joining on 1 Side: Work Rnds 1-3 as given.

Joining Rnd 4: Work Rnd 4 to **, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in corner ch-3 of completed motif, ch 1, 3 dc in corner of motif in progress, ch 1, sc in next ch-3 sp on completed motif, ch 1, sc in next ch-2 sp on motif in progress, ch 1, sc in ch-3 sp on completed motif, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp on motif in progress, ch 1, sc in corner ch-3 of completed motif, ch 1, 3 dc in corner of motif in progress; complete rnd.

Join on 2 Sides: Work as for Joining Rnd 4, EXCEPT join the 2nd and 3rd corners by working the sc into the sc of previous joining; complete rnd.

Edging: Join CA in any ch-3 corner sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) all in same sp, ch 3, * sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * around working (sc, ch 3, sc) in each corner sp; join with sl st to beg sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Tip:

Belt/Scarf measures 4½-inches wide x 72-inches long.

GAUGE: Rnds 1-4 of Motif measures 4 x 4 - inches. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.
