Approx 10 ins [25.5cm] high.

23 sts and 30 rows = 4 ins [10cm] in stocking st

 
     Instructions

 
     Body
With MC and set of 4 needles, cast on 10 sts. Divide sts on 3 needles and join in rnd, placing a marker on first st.

 
     1st and alt rnds: Knit.

 
     2nd rnd: *K1. M1. Rep from * around. 20 sts.

 
     4th rnd: *K2. M1. Rep from * around. 30 sts.

 
     Cont in same manner, inc 10 sts on every following alt rnd until there are 80 sts. Place marker on last rnd.

 
     Knit in rnds until work from marked rnd measures 3 ins [7.5cm].

 
     Next rnd: *K6. K2tog. Rep from * around. 70 sts rem.

 
     Knit 3 rnds even.

 
     Dec 10 sts as before on every following 4th rnd to 30 sts.

 
     Knit 8 rnds even.

 
     Break yarn, leaving a long end. Draw through rem loops.

 
     Stuff body. Pull yarn tightly to close hole. Wind yarn tightly around last rnd of decs. Secure ends.

 
     Feet and Legs (make 2)
With pair of needles and A, cast on 10 sts.

 
     1st row: (WS). Inc 1 st in first st. K3. (Inc 1 st in next st) twice. K3. Inc

 
     1 st in last st. 14 sts.

 
     2nd row: Inc 1 st in first st. K5. (Inc 1 st in next st) twice. K5. Inc 1 st in last st. 18 sts.

 
     Cont in same manner, inc 4 sts every row until there are 46 sts.

 
     Knit 10 rows even.

 
     Shape Toe
1st row: (RS). K12. (K2tog) 11 times. K12. 35 sts rem.

 
     2nd and 4th rows: Purl. 3rd row: K6. (K2tog) 11 times. K7. 24 sts rem.

 
     5th row: K4. (K2tog) 8 times. K4. 16 sts. Break A.

 
     With MC, work 9 rows even in stocking st. Cast off.

 
     Sew bottom and back seam. Stuff feet and legs.

 
     Arms (make 2)
With MC and set of 4 double-pointed needles, cast on 15 sts. Divide sts on 3 needles and join in rnd, - placing a marker on first st.

 
     Knit 20 rnds.

 
     1st rnd: With A, *K1. M1. Rep from * around. 30 sts.

 
     Knit 9 rnds even.

 
     Shape Top
1st rnd: *K4. K2tog. Rep from * around. 25 sts.

 
     2nd and alt rnds: Knit. Dec 5 sts evenly on every alt rnd to 15 sts. Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread yarn through rem loops, pulling tightly.

 
     Stuff arms.

 
     Bow
With A, cast on 12 sts.

 
     Work in garter st (knit every row) for 2 ins [5 cm]. Cast off.

 
     Wind A 3 times around center of piece to form bow.

 
     Finishing
Sew legs and arms to body. Sew Bow and buttons in position. Cut out felt for lips and glue in position.

Tip:

When using double-pointed needles be sure to mark your stitches so you don’t lose count.
