Project Instructions

Step 1 Tear pages from an old book.

Step 2 On old book pages trace each and every side of lid and box including the bottom of box. You should have a total of ten traced pieces.

Step 3 Cut out traced pieces.

Step 4 Working with the lid separately, coat the outside with Mod Podge®.

Step 5 Apply the cut pieces to the corresponding sides of the lid. Coat again with Mod Podge®. Let dry.

Step 6 Repeat Step 5, using the bottom of the box.

Step 7 Brush on and wipe off the entire box (both lid and bottom) with very diluted brown acrylic paint. This will create an aged look. Let dry.

Step 8 Using the jute ribbon, wrap the box with the lid on it as you would a present. Start and end the wrap on the top center of the lid. Glue in place with a glue gun.

Step 9 Cut eight strips of approximately 2"-2½" strips from the jute ribbon.

Step 10 Make a loop from each strip. Glue ends of each together. (Eight total loops.)

Step 11 Glue each loop to the top center of the box, circling around, forming what looks like a tied bow.

Step 12 Cut a 1½" strip of jute ribbon. Curl it into a circle. Glue to secure. Glue onto the center of the eight loops on the top of the box. Finish by tying a hanging loop from jute.

Cut off margins of the old book pages to avoid blank spots when covering the box.
