Bursting with Color Tie-Dye T-Shirt by Tulip®

Material List

  • Tulip® One-Step™ Tie-Dye Kit – Ultimate
  • T-Shirt, 100% Cotton – White
  • Plastic Tablecloth
  • Zip Ties
 

Project Instructions

Step 1 Prewash T-shirt without fabric softener. Do not dry.

Step 2 Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth.

Step 3 Lay damp T-shirt flat on prepared work surface.

Step 4 From bottom corner of T-shirt, bunch shirt together going diagonally to opposite top shoulder. Section off into 16 sections (width of each section as desired). Use zip ties to divide sections, pulling tightly.

Step 5 Prepare dyes in kit as instructed. Refer to photo and squeeze each color onto each segment making sure dye is well saturated into fabric. (You may use colors of choice and less banding if desired.)

Step 6 Cover dyed T-shirt with plastic tablecloth and let set 6-8 hours or overnight.

Step 7 Leave zip ties in place and machine wash T-shirt in cool water with a little soap.

Step 8 Cut off zip ties and dry T-shirt.

Tips

1. Raise areas of banded T-shirt to prevent the puddling of colors from spreading into adjoining sections. 2. Cover dyed T-shirt with plastic for a brighter result.
