Cables Cubed Throw

- Caron® Simply Soft® Yarn (100% Acrylic, 6 oz./170 ga., 315 yds./288m) – Dk Sage (11 Skeins)
- Knitting Needles (One Pair), Size U.S.11 (8mm) or Size to Obtain Gauge
- Cable Needle (cn)
- Crochet Hook, Size U.S. K 10 ½ (6.5mm)
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors

ABBREVIATIONS:
C4F: Place 2 sts on cable needle (cn) and hold in front of work, k2 from LH needle, then k2 from cn.
C4B: Place 2 sts on cn and hold in back of work, k2 from LH needle, then k2 from cn.
C8F: Place 4 sts on cn and hold in front of work, k4 from LH needle, then k4 from cn.
C8B: Place 4 sts on cn and hold in back of work, k4 from LH needle, then k4 from cn.

STITCHES USED:
Garter stitch (Garter st):
Knit every row.
Stockinette stitch (St st):
Knit on RS, purl on WS.
Reverse Stockinette stitch (Rev St st):
Purl on RS, knit on WS.
NOTE: Worked with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout.
SQUARE (make 12):
With 2 strands of yarn held together, CO 48 sts.
(WS) Purl.
Cable patt:
Row1 (RS): P2, k8, p2, k4, p2, k12, p2, k4, p2, k8, p2.
Row 2 and all WS rows: K2, p8, k2, p4, k2, p12, k2, p4, k2, p8, k2.
Row 3: P2, C4F, C4B, p2, C4F, p2, k4, C8F, p2, C4B, p2, C4F, C4B, p2
Row 5: Same as Row 1.
Row 7: P2, C4B, C4F, p2, C4F, p2, C8B, k4, p2, C4B, p2, C4B, C4F, p2
Row 8: Same as Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-8 rows for patt six times more.
(RS) BO all sts, do not fasten off.
Crochet Edging:
Insert crochet hook into last st on needle, ch 1. With RS facing, work 36 sc evenly along each side working ch 1 at each corner; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Strip 1: With WS's together, sc side of 1st square to bottom of 2nd square, then top of 2nd square to side of 3rd square.
Strip 2: With WS together, sc bottom of 1st square to side of 2nd square, then side of 2nd square to bottom of 3rd square.
Strips 3 and 4: Work as for strips 1 and 2 with rem 6 squares.
With WS's together, sc bottom of strip 1 to top of strip 2; bottom of strip 2 to top of strip 3; bottom of strip 3 to top of strip 4.
Work 1 row dc evenly around outside edge of entire afghan working (1dc, ch 1, 1dc) in each corner.
Using yarn needle, weave in loose ends.
