Continue for 5 rows. Add MC (Lime) to backside of sweater for 2 rows to finish off the sleeve. Tie off. Repeat for other sleeve.
Button Closure
(Note: since my snowman was so chubby, a button was needed to hold the sweater together.) Sew or glue button on upper corner of sweater opening. Add color to opposite corner & ch 5. Sc in ch 1. Tie off.
Scarf:
(Note: make scarf to be 45" long without fringe.)
Row 1: ch 10. Turn.
Row 2: ch 1. Sc to end. Turn.
Row 3 to 45": repeat row 2.
Alternate colors to be even stripes or uneven stripes.
Fringe
Cut 32 strands of yarn 12" long.
Fold strand in half & insert into stitch 1. Thread the 2 loose ends through the folded end and pull tight. Add 2 folded fringe to each stitch.
Dressing the Snowman:
If snowman’s head too fluffy for hat, tack down hat by sewing or a dab of glue on back of head and under flaps.
Put on sweater & button. Now add the branch arms with glue to make permanent. For better storage: do not glue in arms. Allow them to be removable.
Put scarf on snowman. Wrap around, tie and drape. Or do the stylish way: fold in half with fringe ends touching. Wrap around neck with fold in front and pull fringe end through fold.
