Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130°C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275°F (130°C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Step 1 Draw and cut out a equilateral triangle pattern for your beads in the size you wish them to be. The example is 2" tall and about 1¼" inches wide at the base.
Step 2 Unwrap the blue clay and set it on its long edge. Slice the clay into thirds. Run one of the pieces of clay through the clay machine on the #2 setting. Fold the clay in half and roll through the machine a couple of more times.
Step 3 Place the sheet of clay on the work surface and place the pattern on the clay. Use the Super Slicer to trim to the pattern. Repeat Steps 1-3 to make five triangles of clay.
Step 4 Wrap the bottom (larger) side of the triangle around the skewer and continue to wrap triangle around the skewer.
Step 5 Repeat Step 2 with the Lilac clay. Place the clay on a non-porous work surface, such as the Sculpey® Clay Mat or a ceramic tile. Use the small Etch 'N Pearl Tool to punch out several “pearls”.
Step 6 Use your fingernail or the edge of the Super Slicer to pick up the “pearls” and place them onto the wrapped bead. Begin just below the point and place them up both sides then down the middle of the point.
Step 7 Bake the beads (on the skewer) according to the clay package directions. Allow the beads to cool to warm and remove them from the skewer and string your new beads!
