Project Instructions

Step 1 Pre-wash pillowcase without fabric softener and do not dry.

Step 2 Cover work surface with plastic table cover.

Step 3 Place damp pillowcase on work surface.

Step 4 Visually divide pillowcase into three equal sections and mark work surface above pillowcase with a small piece of masking tape to help guide your dye application.

Step 5 Mix dyes according to package instructions.

Step 6 Place damp pillowcase on work surface.

Step 7 Apply Fuchsia dye to one end of the pillowcase. Using wide paintbrush dipped in water, swipe brush over wet dye, blending it into the pillowcase. Continue to add dye and repeat brushing technique, adding less dye each time, and continually dip brush in water to create ombré effect.

Step 8 Let set 6-8 hours. Rinse, wash and dry according to package instructions.

Step 9 Freehand name in block letters onto a piece of freezer paper.

Step 10 Using a craft knife and a cutting mat, cut out to create a stencil.

Step 11 Iron stencil onto pillowcase.

Step 12 Alternating colors of 3D paint, paint a different design inside each letter.

Step 13 Remove stencil and let dry.

Step 14 Outline each letter with black 3D paint. Let dry.

Step 15 Sew a row of lace around the edge of the pillowcase, then a polka-dot ribbon around the top edge of the lace, then pom pom trim between the ribbon and the lace to complete.
