Step 1
First, make a template for your pom poms. Cut a piece of cardboard between 2 1/2" - 4", depending on the size of pom pom you want to make. The cardboard should be about as wide as it is long, but the exact measurement isn't important.
Step 2
Wrap one strand of yarn 50 times around the length of your cardboard template. The more you wrap, the fuller your pom pom. When you're done wrapping, cut the yarn free from the skein.
Step 3
Cut a 12" piece of yarn in the same color. Slide the wrapped yarn from the cardboard, keeping the loops intact. Carefully wrap the 12" piece entirely around the center of the wrapped yarn and tie a knot as tightly as possible.

Tip: Your knot should be the same distance from the top loops and bottom loops of the wrapped yarn.
Step 4
Cut through all the loops at the top and bottom of the wrapped yarn to create your first pom pom. Trim the longer ends of the pom pom to neaten.
Step 5
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 to create two more pom poms in the other colors.
Step 6
Find sticks or twigs in nature and cut them down to the length you want.
Step 7
Use the hot glue gun to attach each pom pom to the end of a stick. Remember that kids need adult supervision for this part. Set aside and let dry.
Step 8
Paint the frame with chalk paint. Let it dry and repeat until you have the coverage and finish you desire.

Tip: Your frame will most likely require 2-3 coats. Let it dry between coats, and set aside.
Step 9
Spread out the burlap fabric, and lay the canvas panel on top. Use that as a guide to cut a piece of burlap that's the same size. You want the burlap to cover the canvas entirely, and overlap it a tiny bit.
Step 10
Using a foam brush, apply a generous amount of Mod Podge® to the canvas panel. Carefully lay the burlap onto the canvas so that it covers it exactly.
Step 11
Smooth the burlap so that there are no wrinkles or bumps. A brayer is perfect for this job! Let the decoupage dry completely so the burlap is adhered to the panel.
Step 12
Once the panel surface has dried, glue the three glass bottles onto the burlap using Weldbond® adhesive. Let it dry overnight.
Step 13
Place the panel into the frame, handling it carefully so that you don't damage the glass bottles. Secure the panel from behind with packing tape.
Step 14
Place one pom pom stem into each of the glass bottles.
