You're somewhat experienced with the skills necessary to complete this project, but you haven't mastered all the elements, yet.

leather tassel beaded earrings

Step 1
Measure and cut a 1¼" x 1¼" piece of leather. Turn one piece over to the back, where the smooth side is facing the work surface. Orient the leather piece on the work surface so you can establish a top and bottom.
Step 2
Measure ¼" down from the top and make several horizontal marks across the leather piece. Tape the leather piece down to the work surface. Line up the bottom of the tape across the marks made ¼" down from the top edge.

TIP: The bottom of the tape will serve as the stopping point when cutting the fringe of the tassel.
Step 3
Make light vertical lines every 1/8", from the bottom of the tape down to the bottom of the leather piece. Cut along the lines to make the fringe of the tassel. Be careful to stay on the lines.

TIP: For easier cuts, use a metal ruler, rotary cutter and a self-healing mat. Using these, make marks every 1/8" across the bottom of the tape and cut the leather from the bottom of the leather piece, stopping at the bottom of the tape.
Step 4
Remove the tape. Spread some E6000® adhesive to across the ¼" section across the top of the leather piece and tightly roll the leather piece into a tassel. Wrap a rubber band around several times over the top of the tassel, holding it in place while the adhesive dries.
Step 5
Repeat Steps 1-4 to make a second tassel. Set both tassels aside to dry.
Step 6
To make the bead links, thread a bead onto an eye pin. Form a simple wire loop by grasping the eye pin wire between the jaws of a pair of round nose pliers. Rotate the pliers toward you, keeping a firm grip on the wire until a small loop is formed. Make two but do not link them together. Set aside.

TIP: If you made the necklace and you are out of eye pins from the findings value pack, you can use a head pin from the pack. To make an eye pin from a head pin, cut off the flat head and make a wire look at one end.
Step 7
Wrap an eye pin around the narrow base of the cap on the highlighter (or the barrel of a Sharpie® marker) to form a circle. Slide off of the highlighter and shape the circle into an elongated oval with your hands. Slightly bend the wire about ¼" from end opposite the eye pin loop. Repeat with a second eye pin. Use image as a guide.

TIP:  Make sure the loops of the eye pins are oriented in the same direction as the circle created with the eye pins. If they are not, you can adjust with the jewelry pliers.
Step 8
Slide an eye pin down the center of each tassel, so that the loop of the eye pin sits on top of the tassel. Turn the tassel over and create a large loop so it will not slide out of the tassel.
Step 9
Attach a bead link to the loop of each eye pin with a jump ring.
Step 10
Attach a tassel to the loop of each bead link with a jump ring.
Step 11
