Project Instructions
Step 1: Wash cake stand and lid in warm soapy water. Allow to dry.
Step 2: Moisten a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and wipe stand and lid to remove any residue.
Step 3: To create a band of color at the base of the dome lid, measure and mark width using glass patterning tape.
Step 4: Dab flat end of a pouncer into a puddle of Bubble Gum paint.
Step 5: Dab loaded pouncer onto the masked band, the base of the pedestal and lid knob. Allow to dry and reapply pounced color. Remove tape and allow to dry.
Step 6: Select and cut apart desired scrolls and swirls.
Step 7: Remove the backing sheet and position each silkscreen where desired on the jar. Press in place. In the pictured design, only the inner section of the design was used. Use glass patterning tape to mask over areas of design not to be painted.
Step 8: Add a small amount of Ballet Slipper on the screen to the outside edge of the design opening.
Step 9: Holding the squeegee at a 45° angle with light pressure, pull the wet paint across the opening of the silkscreen. Continue until the entire design has been screened.
Step 10: Lift screen straight up carefully to avoid smearing or smudging the wet design.
Step 11: Clean adhesive silkscreen immediately under running water; blot dry and return to backing sheet.
Step 12: Apply polka dots along the band on the lid and pedestal base.
Step 13: All painted glass projects should be cured to increase the paint’s durability. Use either of the following techniques:
Bake to Cure – Place dry painted glassware into cool oven. Set oven to 350°F and bake for 30 minutes. Glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage. Do NOT place glass in a hot oven. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off. Allow glass to cool completely in oven. Wait 72 hours before using.
NOTE: Use only the Air Cure technique for projects decorated with Glitter Glass Paints.
Air Cure – Air dry completed projects for 21 days before using.
