Project Instructions

Step 1:
Wash glass in warm soapy water to thoroughly clean; rinse well and allow to dry.

Step 2:
Moisten paper towel with rubbing alcohol and wipe over cleaned glass to remove any remaining dirt, grease or soap film. Allow to dry.

Step 3:
Peel alphabet stencil from backing sheet; set backing aside and save for future storage.

Step 4:
Position adhesive stencil on glass surface where desired; press in place.

Glass Etching Instructions:

Step 1:
Apply glass patterning tape around each glass vessel where desired to create a pattern of horizontal stripes.

Step 2:
Apply extra tape to create a wider mask as a protective area.

Step 3:
Using the small natural bristle brush, apply a liberal application of Etch Cream where desired.

Step 4:
Set timer for 15 minutes and allow glass with Etch Cream to rest.

Step 5:
Wash away Etch Cream under running water at the end of 15 minutes. Peel away tape after Etch Cream has been rinsed away. Continue rinsing glass vessel, then dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.

Stenciling Instructions:

Step 1:
Squeeze a small amount of paint onto foam plate.

Step 2:
Load the foam pouncer with glass paint by dabbing into the puddle of paint.

Step 3:
Holding the foam pouncer as you would a pencil, begin dabbing straight up and down over the opening of the adhesive stencil. Continue painting until the entire design area has been completed.

Step 4:
Set foam pouncer aside in container of water for cleaning. While paint is still wet, neatly and carefully lift stencil by peeling away from the glass surface.

Step 5:
Continue adding stenciled designs over glass surface until desired effect is achieved.

Step 6:
To further embellish the stenciled letter, use the writer tip to paint swiss dots on the broad portion of each letter. Position the writer tip where desired, lightly squeeze the bottle until desired dot size is achieved, release pressure and lift.

Step 7:
Set completed project aside for 1 hour to thoroughly dry.

Step 8:
All glass surfaces painted with Martha Stewart Crafts® Glass Paints should be cured to increase the paint’s durability on glass or ceramic surfaces. Follow either the Bake to Cure Technique or the Air Cure Technique on the bottle.
