Adults can have fun creating these Americana boxes using paint and cardstock. A Cricut® was used to cut out letters to make tags on the boxes. Small wood stars and beads hang from the lids, adding extra charm. These boxes are great for organization or pure inspiration in any room.
Project Instructions»

Step 1 Paint the box lids Antique White and let dry completely. Paint another coat onto the lids. Let dry. Water down dark brown paint, brush onto the lids and wipe down with a paper towel or rag. Ink the edges with a brown ink pad.

Step 2 Paint five wood stars with the antique linen paint and set aside to dry.

Step 3 Cut Antique Linen cardstock to cover the sides of the small box. Lightly sand before decoupaging to the box. Cut ½"x4" strips of Fired Brick cardstock and use Mod Podge® to adhere the strips onto the smallest box. Leave about an inch between strips. Trim off any excess paper.

Step 4 Cut Fired Brick cardstock and fasten to the box with Mod Podge®. Cut 1½"x4½" strips of No. 21 and lightly sand. Decoupage strips to the middle box -- leave about an inch between strips. Trim off any excess paper.

Step 5 Cut No. 21 Kraft-Core™ to cover the sides of the large box. Lightly sand and ink with a brown ink pad before decoupaging onto the box. Cut 1½"x5" strips of Fired Brick cardstock and use Mod Podge® to adhere the strips -- leave about an inch between strips. Trim off any excess paper.

Step 6 Hot glue yarn around the bases of the boxes.

Step 7 Cut 1" letters spelling Faith, Family and Friends on the Cricut® machine using a font cartridge of choice and Antique Linen cardstock. Cut No. 21 Kraft-Core™ into tags measuring 1"x3½", 1¼"x4" and 1¼x4¾". Attach letters to the tags. Punch a small hole at each end of the tags and attach a small brad. Attach tags to the front of the boxes with glue or a tape runner.

Step 8 Measure and cut brown ribbon to go around each of the box lids. Tie ribbon in place.

Step 9 Use a Crop-a-dile™ to punch a small hole in each of the five stars.

Step 10 Tie hemp several times around each lid over the ribbon. Tie and knot, then string on a wood bead, a wood star and another bead. Knot hemp to hold in place. Refer to photo.
