Project Instructions»

Step 1 Adhere the vinyl trim around the edges of the baking sheet. Measure the remaining dimensions inside the sheet and note them on a sheet of paper. Set the sheet aside.

Step 2 Begin your calendar by creating the section on the right. To do this, find the set of prints with the house and fence. Cut out the roof of the house, the fence, and the small bird individually from the first piece. Adhere the lace underneath the roof section. Cut out the entire house and fence together (including the bird) from the second piece. Cut out the flowers as desired from an additional print (you will need approximately four). Set these aside momentarily.

Step 3 Select a print to use for your “grass” and skyline. Cut it into two pieces, one large enough to go behind the house and flowers, and the other small enough to fit in between the fence line and the flowers. Give the top of each piece a whimsical, wavy edge by cutting them as desired with your straight-edge scissors.

Step 4 Select a background print for the above pieces. Lay everything on top and measure the width needed. Take off the pieces and cut the width of the print down the size. Cut the height if needed, as you will need to leave an additional 1½" for the header. Make a very thin black border by adhering a strip of the black cardstock along the right edge; adhere this grouping to a magnetic sheet. Adhere all the pieces from Steps 2 and 3 on top as shown in the image, adding adhesive foam squares between the different layers to give the image your desired dimension. Finish off this side by adding clouds and a sun, adhering them in place with adhesive foam squares as well. Put all this in place on your baking sheet.

Step 5 Select the print for the left side. Cut this down to fit in the remaining space, still allowing for a 1½" header on the top. Add a thin black border by adhering a strip of black cardstock along the left side of the page and adhere this grouping to a magnetic sheet. Put this in place on your baking sheet.

Step 6 Cut 35 rectangles for the days of the week from assorted prints. Back these all with a thin black cardstock border. Cut out the numbers 1 to 31 from one of your black cardstock sheets. Adhere them onto your desired rectangles. There will be four of them left over. Put a magnet on the back of each one and add them to the left section of the calendar.

Step 7 Create two header strips -- one that has the month of the year, and the other with the names of those in your home. Each of these will need to be 1½" tall, backed in black cardstock, with the width dependent on the size of your baking sheet.

Step 8 Embellish your calendar by cutting out sentiments from the print. Attach them to your board using painted clothespins or embellished paper clips.

Step 9 To display, rest the baking sheet on an easel or drill two holes in the top, adding a braided section of ribbon to create a hanger.

Tips»
  • When adhering the paper in place, don’t worry about keeping everything consistent with what we’ve done. Have fun with it -- put the numbers in different places, create a different scene, do what your heart desires!
  • When creating your header strips in Step 7, try making different strips for all the months of the year at the same time. This will save you time and stress later on.
  • Change the colors or prints to create your desired look.
