Go with your animal instincts this Valentine’s Day. Make a candy heart-shaped box with candy “painted” zebra stripes on top.
Create your own wild pattern by changing up the Candy Melts® color!
To create candy zebra stripes for top piece of box: Melt white Candy Melts® candy according to package directions. Tint portion of melted white candy black using black candy color from set. Use brush to paint black candy stripes in mold. Chill until firm. Use brush and melted white candy to paint white candy stripes in mold. Chill until firm.
Finish molding top piece of box. Melt red Candy Melts® candy according to package directions. Use brush and melted red candy to paint final layer and sides of the mold. Chill until firm. Continue painting layers of melted red candy; chill between layers until candy is 1/16" to 1/8" thick.
To make bottom piece of box: use a cut disposable decorating bag to pipe a small amount of melted red candy inside mold. Brush candy up the sides, forming an even edge. Chill until firm. Repeat process until desired thickness is reached. Gently release from mold.
Smooth edges of top and bottom of mold by sliding candy heart across a warmed cookie sheet. Chill until firm.
Fill the box with candy-coated chocolates; position lid.
Adult supervision is required at all times. Oven should only be used by an adult.
