Main Body of Head Wrap:

Ch 42.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beg hdc - counts as 1 hdc.) and in each st across. (40 hdc)

Ch 2, turn.

Rows 2-8: Hdc in next stitch and each stitch across. Continue this same pattern until you have completed 8 rows of hdc.

Now you will create narrow ends.

Row 1: After creating the 40th stitch at end of last row in band just created, ch 1. Working within ends of each row of band, dec 2, by bringing up a loop in first end sp, and second end sp, now pull yarn through all 3 loops. (decrease made)

Continue to dec by 2 to other side until you have 4 dec stitches made.

Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 2 sc in each stitch across. (8 sc stitches)

Ch 1, turn.

Rows 3-8: *Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.**

Repeat from * to ** until you have 8 rows.

Row 9: After completing last ch 1and turning, sk first st in this row, sc in next 5 sts, dec in next 2 sts, ch1,turn.

Row 10: Skip first stitch, sc in next3 sts, dec in next 2 sts. Fasten off and weave in ends

Now you will create the second narrow end of head wrap (includes button hole).

Row 1: Attach/tie in yarn at opposite corner of head wrap, sc 1. As before dec by pulling up yarn in first 2 spcs, then pull through all 3 loops on hook. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 2 sc in each st across (8 sc).

Rows 3-8: *Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.**

Repeat from * to ** until you have 8 rows.

Row 9: After completing last ch 1and turning, sk first st in this row, sc in next 2 sts, ch 3, skip next sts, sc in following st, dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.

Row 10: Skip 1st st, sc in next st, 3 sc over ch 3 sp, dec in last 2 sts.

Here you will continue without binding off and finishing edges with a sc stitch around entire piece. Or if you want a contrasting color simply bind off and tie in new color and finish with sc stitching around edge.
