Heart's Delight T-shirt
Item# 34351Laying the tied shirt on a pastry cooling rack while dyeing helps minimize color bleeding.
Designed by Lauri Eaton, courtesy of iLovetoCreate®
Step 1 Pre-wash T-shirt without fabric softener and do not dry.
Step 2 Cover work surface with disposable plastic table cover.
Step 3 Fold shirt in half lengthwise.
Step 4 Use chalk pencil to draw a half heart along the center fold of shirt.
Step 5 Begin pleating your shirt at this chalk line, easing the fabric into a straight line along your chalk line as you pleat. Tie tightly with a zip tie.
Step 6 Repeat pleating and zip tying three more times after this first zip tie. Your shirt should now be tied into five sections.
Step 7 Mix Turquoise, Orange and Fuchsia dyes according to package instructions. Lay tied, damp shirt onto pastry cooling rack.
Step 8 Apply Turquoise dye to first (center) section of shirt, keeping dye approximately ½" from zip tie.
Step 9 Apply Fuchsia dye to second section, Orange dye to third section, Fuchsia dye to fourth section, and Orange dye to last section, keeping dyes approximately ½" away from zip ties.
Step 10 Allow shirt to set for 6-8 hours.
Step 11 Rinse shirt under cold running water to remove excess dye.
Step 12 Remove zip ties and wash and dry shirt according to package instructions.
