Use pencil to trace pattern on Elmer's® Foam Board. Ask an adult to use X-ACTO® #11 Craft Knife (with new blade) on cutting mat to cut foam board. (Hint: Score lightly first and then press more firmly to cut deeper, with several passes of the knife. Replace blade often.)
Read manufacturer's instructions for using chalkboard paint. On newspaper-covered work area, paint first coat horizontally, let dry one hour. Then paint second coat vertically. Let dry to cure for 24 hours.
To decorate foam board edge, use one 5.1 cm (2") (approx.) length of designer masking tape at a time. With foam board on end (perpendicular to table), place middle of designer tape strip on edge of foam board. Wrap approx. 0.63 cm (1/4") around to front and use precision tip scissors to make small clips to allow designer tape to curve with shape of foam board. (Note: Depending on direction of curve, either clip tape with a single cut, to allow it to stretch, or make small V-notches out of tape to allow it to curve toward itself, without overlapping.)
Wrap other edge of designer tape (about 0.32 cm (1/8") wide) to back, clipping or notching as necessary to fit there, too. Continue using 5.1 cm (2") lengths to cover entire foam board edge.
Use X-TREME™ School Glue Stick to attach magnet in each corner on the back of the locker chalkboard. Let thoroughly dry before using. Decorate with coloured chalk. Lightly dampen cloth and gently wipe to remove chalk.
