Material List

  • Paper Maché Ornament – Star
  • Old Book Pages
  • Buttons
  • Acrylic Paint – Red and Brown
  • Low Heat Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Mod Podge®
  • Foam Brush
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Project Instructions

Step 1 Fold a book page in half.

Step 2 Draw on the fold of the book page, a 1" triangle. Draw several in a row. It goes faster if you cut more than one in a row.

Step 3 Cut out the triangles and unfold. You should have a 2" diamond now. Ten diamonds are needed.

Step 5 Paint the edge of the star red. Let dry.

Step 6 Coat one side of the star ornament with Mod Podge®. Place five diamonds on one side of the star, centering each diamond within each point of the star. Let dry and repeat on the other side.

Step 7 With a glue gun, glue a button in the center of the star. Repeat on the other side.

Step 8 Finish by brushing on and wiping off (both sides) very diluted brown acrylic paint. This creates an aged effect.

Tips

Cut several diamonds at once by folding several pages together: then cut.
