Alkyd resin is used instead of linseed oil as the binder, making it more flexible, and it dries more quickly than lead/linseed oil grounds. One of the few oil based grounds available on the market. This stuff is ideal for oil paints as it makes the colors pop and gives a smooth, even surface. It takes a bit of effort to work it in but the end result is worth it.

This project is very thick and the label recommends a thinning of 5% with gamblin solvent which would be a ratio of 19 to 1 which is an odd amount. Plenty of room in the top of the can for the solvent to be added by the manufacturer but for some reason that didn't happen. You have to use a stiff pallet knife or paint scraper to spread this product on a stretch canvas
