I've owned now about 6 of this exact pen, always bought from Michael's for the convenience without moving up to $40+ pens. I will say, out of the box these are always reliable for about 1-2 months. They are extremely sensitive however; one good drop and you're done. The nib can get bent out of alignment very easily if someone else who's never touched a fountain uses it and presses too hard as you would a ballpoint - and you'll never get the function back after its been bent. It will leak randomly or start to pour ink out onto your page after enough age, even with regular cleanings and maintenance. The nib is also not really what other companies would call a "fine" nib, it's definitely more of a medium.

I'd recommend it for a first pen to learn the basics but once it starts to malfunction you might as well get an upgrade if you've been bitten by the fountain pen bug at that point.

I bought this for my 15 year old daughter who wanted to learn calligraphy. She loves the pen and loves that the pen has an ink cartridge instead of having to dip it into an ink well but she says the ink still gets everywhere.

This is an excellent pen for calligraphy, smooth writing, doesn't skip and solid lines.  They have a set of the same brand with fine, medium and bold nibs, but this one was on clearance, so I couldn't resist.

Simple to use, and great for beginners. The pen is lovely, and the cap stays on securely. The ink that comes with it is very smooth/wet, but can spider on some papers. Needs to be tested on paper before doing a big project, but provides beautiful lettering.
