Project Instructions

Step 1 Wash tank top and leave damp; do not use fabric softener.

Step 2 Protect work surface with plastic tablecloth and lay tank out flat on covered surface.

Step 3 Use a grey chalk pencil to draw a half circle along side seam of tank.

Step 4 Begin pleating your shirt at this chalk line, easing the fabric into a straight line along your chalk line as you pleat. Secure tightly with a zip tie about 2" from tip of fabric.

Step 5 Repeat pleating and securing with zip ties four more times, spacing zip ties about 1" apart. Your shirt should now be separated into six sections.

Step 6 Mix “Block Party” dyes according to package instructions. Lay tied shirt onto pastry cooling rack over plastic tablecloth.

Step 7 Apply yellow dye to first section of shirt, keeping dye approximately ½" from next zip tie.

Step 8 Apply green dye to second section, turquoise dye to third section, blue dye to fourth section, purple dye to fifth section, and red dye to last section, keeping dyes approximately ½" away from zip ties.

Step 9 Allow shirt to set for time recommended in package instructions.

Step 10 Rinse shirt under warm running water to remove excess dye.

Step 11 Remove zip ties and wash/dry shirt according to package instructions.
