- Scrapbook Paper, 12"x12" - Pattern of Choice
- Paper Trimmer (or Ruler and Scissors)
- Hole Punch, Small
- Ribbon (or Wool or String)
Cut nine 1½"x12" strips from scrapbook paper.
Cut the strips to length as follows:
One 6" strip for the center (plain paper or duplex pattern)
Two 7½" strips
Two 9" strips
Two 10½" strips
Two 12" strips
NOTE: To make different sized hearts, you can play with the length and the increment (in this case at an interval of 1½").
Stack the paper strips in the following order, pattern facing down: one 1½"x12", one 1½"x10½", one 1½"x9" and one 1½"x7½". Continuing stacking now with the pattern facing up: 1½"x6", one 1½"x7½", one 1½"x9", one 1½"x10½" and one 1½"x12. All strips must be aligned at the bottom.
Staple the nine strips at the bottom, near the edge.
At the opposite end, gather the four left strips, align the ends (the center will “bow” out) and. Repeat for the strips on the right.
Fold each stack of four strips in the center. Staple to the middle strip.
Trim the excess length from the center strip if it is too long and punch a hole at the top, near the edge.
Repeat Steps 1-7 for as many hearts as desired for garland.
Pass a ribbon or a string through each hole to hang your handmade decorations!
