  • Paintbrush
  • Celebrate It® Jute Ribbon – Red or Green
  • Acrylic Paint – Brown and Yellow
  • Low Heat Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
 

Project Instructions

Step 1 Tear very small pieces from an old book.

Step 2 Decide what area of the bird you want to cover with the book page pieces. For example, cover just the wings and not the body or cover just the body and not the wings or cover the whole bird.

Step 3 Coat the area you want to cover with Mod Podge®. Apply the pieces of book pages. Be careful to work the pieces flat over the curves. Let dry.

Step 4 Paint the bird’s beak yellow. Let dry.

Step 5 Antique the bird by brushing on and wiping off very diluted brown acrylic paint.

Step 6 Finish by wrapping a piece of red or green jute ribbon around the bird’s neck. With a glue gun, glue in place. This forms the bird’s scarf.

Tips

When applying the torn book page pieces, press and work until flat for a smoother look.
