april showers slime

We love the early days of spring, with their gray clouds and the quiet drip of rain, so we made this showery slime. It’s got cloudy blue mixed with thundery gray and sudden streaks of bright silver – just like an April thunderstorm.
Step 1
Project Notes:
  • All types of Elmer’s® glue work with this recipe; however, we used two 5 fl. oz. bottles of clear glue and one 4 fl. oz. bottle of white glue to make April Showers Slime as shown.
  • Be careful when children are crafting with sequins, as the product does have a choke hazard warning on the label.
  • Protect your work surface with wax (or palette) paper and wear an apron (or other protective garment) to protect clothing, as the food coloring may stain.

First, find your favorite glue slime recipe. Add color to each slime according to your recipe’s instructions.

TIP: Elmer’s® has some great recipes; click here to download.
Step 2
This slime has three colored stripes: dark gray; cloudy blue and bright Silver slime. To make the dark gray slime, use one 4 fl. oz. bottle of white glue. To get the color shown, add black food coloring and a very small amount of Sky Blue food coloring according to your recipe’s instructions, until you have the color you desire.

TIP: Dip a craft stick into the food coloring container, then mix the color into the glue, stirring thoroughly until it’s completely blended. Always use a new, clean craft stick when dipping into your food coloring in order to avoid cross-contamination.
Step 3
To make Cloudy Blue slime, use ½ of one 9 fl. oz. bottle of clear glue. To get the color shown, add a small amount of Sky Blue food coloring according to your recipe’s instructions, until you have the color you desire.
Step 4
Flatten out your slime on a piece of wax (or palette) paper and sprinkle white iridescent glitter, clear iridescent sequins and aqua chunky glitter onto the slime’s center. Fold the slime’s edges in toward the center to blend the mix-ins into the slime. Continue until they are evenly distributed throughout the slime.
Step 5
To make Bright Silver slime, use the other ½ of your 9 fl. oz. bottle of clear glue. Repeat Step 4 to blend a large quantity of Silver glitter into the slime. Continue adding glitter until the entire slime is shiny and Silver.
Step 6
Form each slime into a long strip and lay each one next to the other on your non-stick surface. Now, fold and twist the slime together until you have blended them just the way you like.
Step 7
Be sure to store your slimes in an airtight, sealable container (or re-sealable plastic bag).
