baby crochet carrot beanie

This carrot beanie will look sweet enough to eat on your little one this spring.
Step 1
Beanie
Use Crochet Hook, Size H
 
Start with Jute color yarn.Ch 2

Rnd 1 5 sc (6, 7, 8) in second from hook. Join with a slst.

Rnd 2
Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in next. 2 dc each st around. Join at the top of the beg ch with a slst.

Rnd 3
Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in next. 2 dc each st around. Join at the top of the beg ch with a slst.

Rnd 4
Ch 2, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next, 2 dc in next* in each st around. Join at the top of the beg ch with a slst.

Rnds 5-7 (8, 9, 10)
Ch 2, dc in next st. Dc in each st around. Switch to Hot Orange.

Rnd 8 (9,10, 11)
Ch 1, sc in next st. Sc in each st around. Switch to Hot Green.

Rnd 9 (10, 11, 12)
Ch 1, sc in next st. Sc in each st around. Switch to Hot Orange.

Rnd 10 (11, 12, 13)
Ch 1, sc in next st. Sc in each st around. Turn and switch to Jute.

Rnd 11 (12, 13, 14)
Slst around each stitch.Fasten off and tuck in ends.

Step 2
Carrot Top
Step 1 Cut a 12" piece of Fern yarn. Set aside.

Step 2 Wrap Fern yarn around two fingers approximately 15 times.

Step 3 Carefully slide off fingers, holding tight around the center.

Step 4 Wrap the 12" piece of yarn around the loops near one bottom, but not too close. Knot tightly. Trim 12" yarn.

Step 5 Cut loops on the top, opposite to the wrap end in Step 4.

Step 6 Trim, if needed, and fluff yarn. Set aside.
Step 3
Carrot
Use Crochet Hook, Size GCh 3

Row 1 Dc in third ch from hook. Turn.

Row 2 Ch 2, dc in same st. Dc in next. Turn.

Row 3 Ch 2, dc in same st. Dc in each st across. Turn.

Rows 4-7 Ch 2, dc in same st. Dc in each st across. Turn.

Row 8 Ch 2, dc in same st. Dc in next. Dc3tog, Dc in remaining each st across. Turn.

Row 9 Ch 2, dc in next, dc in each st across. Turn.
Step 4
Assembly
Step 1 Thread a piece of Hot Orange onto a yarn needle.

Step 2 Hold (or pin) the carrot top to the back of the carrot. Make sure the cut ends of the top can be seen over the top. Sew carrot top to carrot, from the back. Use image as a guide.

Step 3 Place carrot on desired place on the beanie (pin if desired). Sew onto beanie with Hot Orange yarn. Tuck in ends.
