Helpful for tiny hands
These were really helpful for the kids to string their beads. The set of beads we got had a size of bead that didn't fit over the eye of the needle, but they were helpful in clearing excess paint out of the bead openings.

Strong, colorful plastic needles
These plastic beading (or plastic canvas) needles are attractive, easy for even little fingers to manage, and inexpensive enough that it is not a tragedy if one gets broken or lost. Coming in several colors is an argument-ender, too, which is always a plus if you are working with more than one child.

Looking for metal tapestry needles
Metal needles with blunt ends hold up better. I bought these all I could find. Bend easily and sometimes break. Safer for kids.
