bernat® maker home dec™ macrame wall hanging
Bring some color into your home with this easy and on trend wall decoration.
Step 1 |
Cut 16 strands of yarn approx 4 yds. [3.5 m] long. |
Step 2 |
Divide 16 strands into 4 groups of 4 strands. Holding 4 strands together, fold each in half and tie onto dowel, using lark's head knot (click here to see diagram). Repeat for each of the groups. TIP: Tape dowel to work surface for ease of working. |
Step 3 |
Adjust knots on dowel so they are evenly spaced, approximately 2” [5 cm] apart. |
Step 4 |
Divide each group into 4 groups of 2 strands. From this point on, hold these 2 strands together and treat each group of 2 as one strand. |
Step 5 |
Work Square Knot Rows as follows: • Square Knot Row 1: Tie one square knot (click here to see diagram) in each of the 4 groups, working 2” down from dowel. (4 knots in this row) • Square Knot Row 2: Taking the right-most 2 strands from the first group and left-most 2 strands from the second group, tie one square knot 2” down from previous knot. Repeat across, working knots with 2 strands from groups 2 and 3 and groups 3 and 4. (3 knots in this row) • Square Knot Row 3: Taking the left-most 2 strands from the first group and left-most 2 strands from the second group, tie one square knot 2” down from previous knot. • Taking the right-most 2 strands from the second group and left-most 2 strands from the 3rd group, tie one square knot 2” down from previous knot. Repeat across, working knots with 2 strands from groups 3 and 4. (4 knots in this row) • Square Knot Rows Four and Five: Repeat Square Knot Rows Three and Four. (click here to see diagram) TIP: Do not tie knots too tightly. Tighten strands just enough to secure knot. |
