black cat pumpkin
Step 1
We’ve got a template that’ll make this project even easier! Click here to download and print it out. Then, cut out the individual pattern pieces.
Step 2
Trace the ear patterns onto a sheet of black adhesive foam; then cut them out. Use scissors to cut a slit in each ear, following the dotted line shown on the pattern piece.
Step 3
Next, peel the paper backing from the foam pieces. Give each ear a bit of a curve by pulling one side of the slit over the other, overlapping them slightly. Stick each piece in place on the top of the pumpkin to give your cat its ears. TIP: ADULT: To make sure the ears are really secure, you can hot glue them in place on the pumpkin. |
Step 4
What color eyes do you want your black cat to have? Place the eye patterns onto the adhesive foam sheet, trace around them; then cut out the shapes. Trace around the nose onto a sheet of pink adhesive foam and cut that out, too.
Step 5
Use a black paint pen to draw a circle in the center of each cat eye. Color in each circle with the pen; then let the paint dry.
Step 6
Now, remove the paper backing from the eyes and nose and stick them into place on the front of the pumpkin, underneath the ears.
Step 7
Next, take three black chenille pipe cleaners and twist them together in the middle. Adjust them, if you need to, so they look like three cat whiskers sticking out on each side. |
Step 8
ADULT: Add a dab of hot glue to the whiskers where they meet (in the center), then press this part against the pumpkin just under the cat’s nose.
Step 9
You’re almost done! Use a white paint pen to draw your kitty cat’s mouth, then let the paint dry. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels
