burlap pumpkin door hanger

Show off your love for autumn with a trendy Burlap Pumpkin Door Hanger.
Step 1
Cut a 20"x20" piece of burlap. Lay the burlap on some newspaper (or other disposable covering) to protect the table.
Step 2
Using the paintbrush, apply Mod Podge® Stiffy® to the burlap piece. Be sure to cover the entire piece. Hang dry for at least 45 minutes. Apply another coat of Stiffy® and let it dry.
Step 3
Print out the pumpkin and leaf patterns from michaels.com. Enlarge the pumpkin shape to 16" wide, or the size desired. Cut out shapes.

Step 4
Lay the pumpkin pattern on top of the prepared burlap and trace with a marker. Trace two leaves in the empty space on the burlap.
Step 5
Pour out both shades of orange paint onto a foam plate (or palette paper). Paint the pumpkin using the two shades of orange paint. Start with an area of the Orange, and while it's still wet, pick up some of the Dark Orange paint and blend it over the lighter color. This will add some depth and interest to the painting. Let dry.
Step 6
Paint the stem and two leaves, by the same technique in Step 5, with two shades of green paint.
Step 7
When it is dry, trace the pumpkin with the black Tulip® Slick® Dimensional Fabric Paint. Trace the outline and the ridges that go down the front of the pumpkin. Let dry.
Step 8
Brush some of the Mod Podge® Stiffy® over 2"x2" areas of the pumpkin and sprinkle glitter while wet. Leave the stem and leaves un-glittered.
Step 9
Cut out the pumpkin and the leaves.
Step 10
Wrap one piece of the Ashland™ Paper-Wrapped Stem Wire around a pencil to create a spiral, leaving about 3" at the end straight. Slide it off of the pencil and stretch it out slightly. Make a bend at the straight part and hot glue it to the back side of the pumpkin behind the stem. Repeat to create a second spiral and glue it to the back on the other side of the stem.
Step 11
Glue the two leaves onto the front of the pumpkin near the stem.
Step 12
Bend a paper-wrapped wire stem into a loop to make a hanger and glue it to the back, top of the pumpkin.
