candy corn tumbler
Use matte 651 vinyl, by ORACAL®, to make fun tumblers to use during the Halloween season. Once you add vinyl, your tumblers are hand wash only.
Step 1 |
First, click here for the digital design library on michaels.com. |
Step 2 |
Download the designs you would like to use for your tumbler. |
Step 3 |
Now, open Cricut® Design Space™ and open a new project. Click on the ‘Upload’ in the left side panel, click ‘Upload Image’ and the browse for the design on your computer; then upload into the upload image gallery. |
Step 4 |
Choose the designs in the upload image gallery and click ‘Add to Canvas’ in the lower right corner. |
Step 5 |
Weld all of the yellow elements together by selecting them individually and clicking 'Weld' in the lower right corner of your screen. Do this for the white and orange sections as well. |
Step 6 |
Click 'Text' and design the name you would like on the front. Place over the design and size the name as desired. |
Step 7 |
Size the design as needed to fit your tumbler. |
Step 8 |
Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner and then click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen. |
Step 9 |
Place the first layer of vinyl, grid-side down, onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut® machine. Select ‘Vinyl’ as your material and follow the prompts to cut out your design. Once the machine has finished cutting, gently peel the vinyl away from your mat. Repeat for each remaining vinyl layer. |
Step 10 |
Use scissors to cut away the vinyl around your design. Next, use your weeder tool to peel away the remaining negative space surrounding and within each design element. When you’re done, only the design itself should be left on the backer paper. |
Step 11 |
Cut a piece of transfer tape that’s just a bit larger than the bottom layer of your design. Peel away the tape’s backer paper and place the tape, sticky-side down, over this part of the design. Burnish the vinyl so that it’s completely stuck to the tape. |
Step 12 |
Now, gently peel the white backer paper from the cut-out design, which now should be stuck to the transfer tape. |
Step 13 |
Hold the transfer tape with the design over your surface to determine where you’d like it placed; then press it onto your surface. Burnish the vinyl once more to make sure it’s completely stuck to the surface and gently peel away the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl transferred to your surface. |
Step 14 |
Repeat Steps 11-13, working from the bottom up, for the each layer. |
