candy melts® fruit topped cupcakes
When life gives you lemons, set them aside, and make these cuties instead! Each tiny, tasty fruit is molded from Candy Melts®, so they’re sinfully simple to put together and, fair warning, you won’t be able to stop with just one!
Step 1 |
Begin by melting the green Candy Melts® in the microwave by following the instructions on their packaging. Carefully spoon a very small amount of the melted candy into the stem portion of each cavity in the cherry mold and the leaf portion of each cavity in the pineapple mold. TIP: Use a toothpick to spread the green melted candy; this will help you to fill each leaf and stem completely. |
Step 2 |
Let’s do it again! This time, melt the red Candy Melts® in your microwave. Spoon this melted candy into the remaining open space in each of the cherry mold’s cavities. |
Step 3 |
Last round! Melt the yellow Candy Melts® as you did the other colors, then spoon the melted candy into the remaining open space in each of the pineapple mold’s cavities. TIP: To get rid of any air bubbles, just tap the mold gently against your working surface after you’ve filled all the cavities in each mold. |
Step 4 |
Once the candy’s cooled, gently push on each mold to release the tiny fruits. Yum! Now, set the candies aside. |
Step 5 |
Prepare the cupcake batter by following your favorite recipe, whether it’s a box mix or from scratch. Fill each baking cup two-thirds of the way with batter, and bake those tasty cupcakes! Once they’re done, let them cool completely. |
Step 6 |
Prepare a disposable decorating bag. Cut its tip and fit it with tip 1A. Now fill the bag with decorator icing. TIP: Want some tips about tips? We have a great video that’ll show you what different icing tips can do for your cupcakes; take a look here. |
Step 7 |
Pipe the icing onto each cupcake. Here’s how to do it: - Hold your piping bag straight above the center of a cupcake. Squeeze it to form one large dollop, then release your grip. - Use the same technique to squeeze a second dollop on top of the first. - Now, do this one more time to add a third, smaller dollop, right on top of the second. - Keep going! Repeat these steps to add icing to each of the remaining cupcakes. |
Step 8 |
Almost done! Just place one adorable fruit on top of each iced cupcake. Delicious! Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
