Canson® XL® Watercolor Pad is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 213.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just don't get it wet.... My experience of this watercolor paper came as a total shock. It pilled and disintegrated most distressingly the first time I used it. After some experimentation I had to relegate it to more ink work where it was only getting wet once or at most twice. Trying to do wet on wet techniques if the brush touches it while it's wet more than three or four times pills start coming up very readily. I guess I got spoiled because my first book of their watercolor paper was their Montval line which is beautiful stuff. Their mixed media paper is a better watercolor paper than this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great, very smooth for watercolour paper Not that great a watercolour paper. Weight is OK but it has very little tooth. I don't beleive the 'artist' review, as a real artist would shop at a real art store, where I've found this exact paper for 9 dollars regular price. Buy your art supplies at an art store. Support a small business, get great advice, meet other artists and most likely save a lot of money vs. Michael's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb w/Watercolors and Acrylics Canson's 140 lb watercolor paper (the textured side) has been great for both washes and slightly thicker textures of watercolor and acrylic, and even some gouache. I've used small amounts of water, was able to lift colors to some degree, and found buckling to be minimal unless I really soak the paper. By the same token, it also flattens fairly well overnight. I prefer the thicker textured side, the tooth lending a nice canvas like feel to the finished image. One of my fav's so far!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointed Just starting on watercolour. Bought this and strathmore at buy one get second at 50 % off. Totally not worth a dime. Newspaper works better. Watercolours should flow, be able to apply more than one layer and maybe even glaze. Add on some more details after first layer dries? Can’t do any of that with this paper. It just pulls and disintegrate s. Wasted time, effort and money. I tried markers on it and even that was terrible. Did work for low grade paints of acrylic tho...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Artist Review I am a watercolor, digital, and graphite artist. I started out using the 60 sheet 7x10 Canson multimedia 92 pound paper. I then decided to upgrade to this 30 sheet 9x12 Canson watercolor 140 pound paper. This paper is acid free and has very little pulp in it. It can take more layers of wash, glaze, paint, and heavy lifting/blending than the lighter weight papers. You can apply all watercolor techniques, including blending and lifting techniques. The 9x12 tablet gives me 2x the amount of paper surface than the 7x10, so if youre on a budget, go for that option. I also prefer the tablet rather than the spiral bound book because I can span a sketch or painting over two pieces of paper if needed when i have the pad opened and laying flat. If you are still using a lighter weight watercolor, sketch, or multimedia paper...do yourself a favor and upgrade to this 140 pound watercolor paper pad. You will not be disappointed. Especially if youre using the lighter weight paper because of the price point. You do get more sheets for less money with the lighter paper, but as you progress in your painting technique and application, and you find yourself applying better quality paints, more layers, and so forth, you will be glad you made the switch because this heavier paper quality is much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the price and usually on sale! I loved this paper for the project I was doing! I know it's watercolor paper, but I used it to blend acrylic paint on top of to make a kind of sunset sky. Can't wait to frame the paintings!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Buckles, pills and tears easily. Not even good for beginners or practicing. Got 2 during BOGO 50% off. Stuck with 2 large pads of useless paper. Waste of money.
