caron® cotton cakes™ summer breeze crochet top

When you're in the mood to DIY something extra stylish try this lacy top. Caron® Cotton Cakes™ yarn gives this light crochet sweater just the right amount of drape. You’ll find it’s as soft and airy as a summer breeze!
Step 1
SIZES AND YARN QUANTITIES NEEDED:
   -  XS/S/M: To Fit Bust = 28"-38"; Finished Size = 40"
   -  L/XL: To Fit Bust = 40"-46"; Finished Size = 48" 
   -  2XL/3XL/4XL/5XL: To Fit Bust = 48"-62"; Finished Size = 64"
 
Project Note: The number of Skeins needed to complete this project is 4 (5-7) - Caron® Cotton Cakes™ Yarn – Garden Path
 
GAUGE: 15 sts and 8 rows = 4" in pat; save time and check your gauge.
 
PROJECT NOTES:
   -  These instructions are written for the smallest size given. If changes are necessary for larger sizes, the instructions will be written thus ( ). When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To make it easier to work this pattern, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before you start.
   -  Top is worked sideways. Front and Back are worked together in two halves that are folded and joined in the middle.

Step 2
INSTRUCTIONS:
 
Right and Left Body (make alike)
 
Ch 148 (160-172).
 
 
Proceed in pat as follows:
 
Row 1: (RS). 1 dc in 6th ch from hook (skipped ch-5 counts as 1 dc. Ch 1. Skip next ch). (1 dc in next ch. Ch 1. Skip next ch) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 ch. *(Ch 1. Skip next ch. 1 dc in next ch) 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 6 ch. Rep from * to end of chain. Turn.
 
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch-1 sp). Skip next dc. 1 dc in each of next 7 sts. (Ch 1. Skip next st. 1 dc in next st) twice. *Ch 1. Skip next st. 1 dc in each of next 7 dc. (Ch 1. Skip next st. 1 dc in next st) twice. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
 
Row 3: As 2nd row.
 
Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch-1 sp). Skip next st. (1 dc in next st. Ch 1. Skip next st) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 dc. *(Ch 1. Skip next st 1 dc in next st) 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 6 sts. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
 
Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 4 sts. (Ch 1. Skip next st. 1 dc in next st) 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 2 sts. *1 dc in each of next 4 sts. (Ch 1. Skip next st. 1 dc in next st) 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
 
Row 6: As 5th row.
 
Row 7: As 4th row.
 
Rep Rows 2-7 for pat until work from beg measures approx 9½ (11½-15½)” , ending on a WS row.
 
Next Row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn.
 
Next Row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
 
Fasten off.  
Step 3
Finishing
 
(See diagram.)
 
Place marker on last row of Right Body 15 (16-17)" [38 (40.5-43) cm] in from left edge and 6 (7-8)" [15 (18-20.5) cm] in from right edge. Place markers on Left Body 6 (7-8)" [15 (18-20.5) cm] in from left edge and 15 (16-17)" [38 (40.5-43) cm] from right edge. With RS facing and last rows tog, sew Right Body to Left Body leaving center 17½ (18¾-20)" [44.5 (47.5-51) cm] open for Neck.
 
Fold Body in half with Neck opening at top. Place markers on side edges 11 (12-13)" [28 (30.5-33) cm] up from bottom edge. Sew side seams between bottom edge and markers.
 
Armhole edging:
 
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to right armhole at side seam.
 
Rnd 1: Ch 1. Work 62 (66-72) sc evenly around armhole opening. Join with sl st to first sc.
 
Rnds 2-3: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
 
Fasten off.
 
 
Waist Band (Ribbing)
 
Ch 9.
 
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn.
 
Row 2: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
 
Rep last row until work from beg (when slightly stretched) measures 40 (48-64)" [101.5 (122-162.5) cm]. Fasten off. Sew sides of Band tog.
 
Beg at Left side seam, sew side of Waist Band to lower edge of Top.
