Caron® Cotton Cakes™ Yarn is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, soft yarn! Only one downside. I really have been loving every project I’ve made with the Caron cakes cotton yarn and being able to get so much in one affordable ball is wonderful! My only issue with this yarn is the dye lots are VERY inconsistent. There were three of the one colourway at michaels today and they all looked so different that I thought they were actually 3 different ones I had never seen before. Of course you can avoid this by being sure to get the same dye lot at the same time! But definitely keep it in mind when purchasing for a project that requires buying extra cakes. Other then that though I love this yarn and definitely recommend it especially for things that go against the skin like shirts, gloves, face masks, etc!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this yarn! This Yarn caught my eye and i didnt know what to make with it. Then I whipped up a baby blanket for my friends daughter! Took me 3 days! So easy to work with and love the cake style. The colors blends so well and worked up so nice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not perfect, but I like I have to agree with some of the one star reviews: a few knots in a skein and a brown blotch here and there. I haven't noticed shedding. But... I love crocheting with this yarn -- so smooth and even and the drape is great! I will buy again without a doubt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this yarn! I've made 2 jackets from this Caron cotton cakes yarn. It was very easy to knit up. I didn't have any problem working with this yarn at all. I wish they have more different solid colors!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favourite I bought this yarn for making a sweater, and it was great. But one of the balls were a little sticky which I guess is normal for a cotton blend yarn and isn't my greatest concern since the other two balls were fine. But a problem I had that was consistent with all three balls is that the yarn splits occasionally and there is so much fluff that I was scared to inhale too deeply the entire time I was making my sweater. I'm hoping that after I wash the sweater this won't be a problem but I doubt it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the self-striping of the beautiful colors! This pattern I created only uses one skein of yarn. I created this pattern from stitches I love after pulling out the scarf no less than five times. Lol! Hope you all enjoy the attached pattern! 05/29/2020. (Color: Fruit Tropical in the pic) Size K hook Note: on the 2nd piece I started like this one I crocheted 2 more chain stitches, then started the border before starting Section 1. I closed up the circle with a slst at the end of the border row (be careful not to twist row) then turned my work with the border right side up to start Section 1 on the other side of the Chain 200. Chain 200 Border: *2dc, then 1slst in next st. Repeat from * to end of row, ending with a slst. Section 1: Row 1: Ch1, 1sc in each st, finish row with a slst. Row 2: Ch1, *1sc in 7 scs, next st 6dcjt (dc join together = leave the last loop of each dc on the hook, yarn over, pull thru all 6 loops plus the one an your hook before the dc’s), repeat from * to end of row, finish with a slst. Row 3: Ch1, *1sc in 7 scs, 1slst in the long st immediately following the 7th sc, skip to the 1st sc, repeat from * to end of row, finish with a slst. Note: I like to pull the 1st sc tighter after the slst. Section 2: Row 4: Ch2 (counts as 1st dc), 1dc in same st, skip 2 sts, ch2, *1dc in next two sts, ch2, skip 2 sts, repeat from *, finish with a slst. Row 5: repeat row 1. Row 6: repeat row 4, being sure to keep dc’s in line with row 4. Row 7: repeat row 1. Section 3: Row 8: Ch 1, 1slst in same st, next st *1hdc, then 1slst in next (crunch stitch). Repeat crunch stitch to end of row, finish with a slst. ***Turn work, very important! Row 9: Ch1, in the top of each 1slst from previous row, crochet a 1hdc, and in the top of each 1hdc, crochet a 1slst. Finish with a slst. ***Turn work, very important! Rows 10 & 11: repeat row 9, turning between rows. Finish with a slst. Repeat section 2 Repeat section 1 except for Starting with this variation from row 2: Ch1, 1sc in 3 scs, next st 6dcjt (dc join together = leave the last loop of each dc on the hook, yarn over, pull thru all 6 loops plus the one an your hook before the dc’s), *1sc in 7 scs, next st 6dcjt, repeat from * to end of row, finish with a slst. This variation in the pattern makes the “knots” half way in between the knots from section 1. Repeat section 2. Repeat section 3. Repeat section 2. Repeat section 1. Proceed to border without cutting yarn. Border: *2dc, then 1slst in next st. Repeat to end of row, ending with a slst. Tie off and weave in ends.
