Follow along with instructor Adrienne Hodge to create this in-depth mountain forest floor study using Faber Castell Polychromos Colour Pencils on toned paper. Reference images provided. In part one of this two-part class, we will sketch thumbnail drawings of the reference images in order to find the light and dark value shapes in the image before moving on to the sketch and first layer of color on the toned paper.
This kind of drawing can be referred to as a painting, as we will be building layers and blending several layers of color in order to develop any part of this image. So, when beginning this colour pencil study, we will start by blocking in the colors found underneath other colors in the image so that we can slowly blend and mix colors as we go. By the end of part I of this class, we will aim to have the foundational layers of colors in all parts of the image we wish to further develop in part II.
