The Four Essential Bead Stitches You Need to Know

If you're new to beadwork or want to feel more confident following project tutorials, there are four foundational stitches that will set you up for success.

Ladder Stitch – This is the launchpad. Simple and structural, it's the base for many other stitches.

Brick Stitch – Builds right off ladder stitch and teaches spacing and shaping.

Even Count Peyote Stitch – A beadwork staple, especially for flat designs and patterns.

Herringbone Stitch – A dynamic, textured stitch that brings movement and style to your designs.

Each of these essential stitches—Ladder, Brick, Even Count Peyote, and Herringbone—are featured in many of the free beading classes we've created for the Michaels YouTube channel. You'll see them used again and again in current and upcoming projects.

Whether you're practicing your first row or adding advanced techniques, our tutorials are a great way to see these stitches in action and grow your skills at your own pace.
