Join instructor Adrienne Hodge as she revisits the most asked questions of beginning artists--what do the numbers and letters on graphite drawing pencils mean and how do you differentiate the use of them? This class will demystify the H-B pencil labels using a simple diagram and teach you the optimal ways to use these various drawing pencils. The instructor will also cover why drawing on the side of the pencil is often more effective than drawing with the tip of it, why the amount of pressure placed on a pencil is so important, and how holding the pencil in different ways increases the ability to control the movement a pencil makes as well as muscle memory that will help sharpen your drawing skills.

This class will also cover the basic principles of value shading including the tonal shading of a value scale and how to turn a 2D circle into a 3D sphere.
