Delve into the world of painting with gouache, or opaque watercolor. In part one of this two part class, the instructor will guide students through the process of sketching an underpainting of an edited image of flowers in bloom with special attention to contour lines and value shapes. Next, the instructor will outline how to create a color palette of the colors needed to paint the reference image. Then, the instructor will walk the class through the initial steps of layering gouache using washes of color that gradually increase in viscosity.
