Follow along with instructor Adrienne Hodge to study, draw, and paint a peacock feather using Artist's Loft Mini Watercolor Pencils, Acrylic Paint Markers, and Illustration pens. Adrienne will demonstrate layering colors and dropping a minimal amount of water on top to allow the watercolor to blend evenly as well as how to sketch the basic shapes and lines of a peacock feather using provided reference images. The use of the Artist's Loft Circle template to make color swatches will create a thoughtful design effect to your notes on color mixing in the margin of this study. A large amount of time in this project will be spent layering the Artist's Loft Mini Watercolor Pencils without water to create the effect of colors and textures in a peacock feather as seen in the class example. The use of watercolor brushes will be minimal to in order preserve the interplay of lines from the dry pencils. However, If too much water is used, more watercolor pencil layers can be added once the paper is completely dry.

After applying water to the pencil layers and allowing the watercolor paper to dry completely, Adrienne will demonstrate how to add accents to this peacock feather study using the Gold and White Acrylic Paint Markers and Black Illustration Pens. Note: Adrienne may use multiple examples in this class in order to demonstrate all of the steps involved. A hair dryer can be used to expedite the drying process of watercolor layers in your peacock feather study.
