craft stick american flag
Step 1 |
Lay five jumbo craft sticks horizontally, side-by-side. |
Step 2 |
Adhere one of the mini craft sticks vertically across the sticks, on the left side, using Elmer's® glue. The mini craft stick should cover about four of the jumbo craft sticks. Adhere another mini craft stick right next to the first one, but make sure it covers the portions of the jumbo craft stick that the first mini stick did not cover. This will adhere all of your jumbo craft sticks together. |
Step 3 |
Repeat Step 2 on the right end of the jumbo craft sticks. |
Step 4 |
Glue the handle on your flag by gluing a jumbo craft stick to the right end. You can glue it on right over the mini craft sticks that are holding the flag together. Let the glue completely dry. |
Step 5 |
Turn the flag over. |
Step 6 |
At the top left of the flag, measure 3" across and draw a vertical line down the first three jumbo craft sticks. Paint this section with Bright Blue acrylic paint. Let dry. |
Step 7 |
Pour a quarter size amount of red paint onto the paper plate (or paint palette). Paint the first and third craft stick red from the edge of the Bright Blue section over to the right. Paint the fifth craft stick all the way across. Be careful not to get red paint in the Bright Blue area or the second and fourth craft sticks. Let paint dry. |
Step 8 |
Paint the second and fourth craft sticks white. This creates the red and white stripes for your American flag. Let dry. |
Step 9 |
Paint the handle of the flag white. Let dry. |
Step 10 |
Dip the opposite end of the paintbrush into the white paint, then make 5 rows of 10 dots in the Bright Blue area to represent the stars. |
Step 11 |
Use the same technique from Step 10 to make blue dots on the handle of the flag. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
