Description

The X-ACTO Z-Series #1 knife is the sharpest, most durable precision knife ever. When creating these new blades, the goal has been to design, develop and manufacture a #11 blade that is absolutely "best in class." The gold hue on the cutting edge is a zirconium nitride coating and the result is the sharpest blade in the industry; one that easily cuts paper, plastic, balsa, thin metal, cloth, film and acetate. A necessity for crafting, scrapbooking and any work that needs fine detailing, the Z-Series delivers delicate, precision cutting, trimming and stripping.

X-ACTO® Z-Series™ #1 Precision Knife is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Trying to look at this as objectively as possible: I sympathize with "a unhappy"s review; but I would suggest taking a degree of frustration off of it, and not necessarily get scared away from this product because of it. If any of you ever feel worried over that particular problem... a pair of pliers to make double-sure it's tightened fully does wonders. And if you think this product had "tightening" issues... the thicker "rubberized/comfort-grip" black X-Acto handle... now THAT thing is going to put people in the hospital. It needs to be removed from shelves immediately it's that poorly designed. And no matter what, use like at least 1.5-2x more caution with these blades. But, my X-Acto Handle did just fail (after close to 2-3 years of almost daily use on really tough materials)... the threaded-sleeve that you grip actually started "tearing" a bit after so many times tightening it using full-force. Non-aircraft grade Aluminum is a rather malleable metal, definitely not hardened like Steel alloy... so X-Acto's choice of handle material is my only real complaint. However, as for the Zirconium Nitride blades? I'm surprised they don't accidentally cut holes in the fabric of space-time. They lose their edge as quickly as any normal X-Acto blade; but while fresh and with a perfect tip still attached?... they are 100% dangerous (in a useful sense). They do surgical/precision work the best, but even cutting in bulk they perform noticably better than a normal blade. I use a carbon-fiber honeycomb "sandwich-like" board for my workshop cutting surface... and one day I noticed grooves going through one side of the carbon fiber surface sheet... culprit? these Z-Series blades. A good product needs no advertising. I use them for everything, and making sure I have enough spare blades in my toolbox is a big enough priority that I don't even need to write it on the shopping list.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty Fastener I bought this a few days ago. The fastener kept coming undone and the blade wanted to slip out. It's disconcerting, to say the least. When I took it back to the Michael's and explained to a young woman, who said she was a manager, the problem. She said at first, "I can't put this back on the shelf because the packaging in ripped." Why would she want to put it back on the shelf? So someone else could get cut? With a coupon the thing cost less than $3. Not worth a trip to the ER. I bought a Fiskers Exacto Knifethat has a lock on the handle to keep the blade in, plus I have a choice of 3 other blades.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good I appreciate this Xacto. I'd like a thicker handle and refill blades. I didn't see any at your store. Maybe Walmart. Sad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy tool X-Acto quality is assured. Michaels price just a little higher than online sources but its nice being able to go into the store and physically check it out.
