Step 1

Align the two masks and sl st yarn to attach in one corner. Sc both pieces together down one side, across the bottom and up the other side.

Step 2 Image

Step 2

When you get to the top, sc across the front mask only. At the end, turn and sc across the back mask only. Fasten off.

Step 3 Image

Step 3

Stitch the top masks together from one corner towards the center for about 3", then fasten off. There should be an opening in the top. Tuck in all ends.

Step 4 Image

Step 4

Cut two 12" pieces of yarn. Take one, fold it in half and attach to one corner with a sl st (or lark’s head knot) at the center.

Step 5 Image

Step 5

Run the yarn strands down the side edge to the bottom corner on the same side. Insert your hook and grab the yarn; pull through so you have a loop. While the yarn against the side is taut, pull the ends through the loop and tighten so the loop is firm against the side edge.

Step 5 Image

Step 6

Repeat steps 4 – 5 for the other side.

Step 7

Adjust the straps as needed, and once you get it to the right fit, tie a knot on the hanging strands to hold the bottom knot. Weave in all ends.

Step 8

Fold the coffee filter in half and slide into your mask through the opening at the top.

TIP: If needed, either fold or snip the sides of the coffee filter to fit. Lay the mask over the folded filter, trace the bottom and trim.

To wear, slide the coffee filter through the opening at the top and flatten inside your mask. Wear either side out, as the mask is reversible.
