You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1
- If needed, lightly sand the wood crate using a sanding block. Wipe any dust from the crate with a soft cloth or paper towel.

- Lay newspaper down to protect your work surface.

- Use a 2" chipboard brush to stain the exterior sides of your crate with Water Lily outdoor stain. Apply several coats if needed. Allow stain to dry between coats.

Step 2
- Stain both ends of your crate with Harbor View outdoor stain. Apply several coats, if needed, allowing the stain to dry between coats.

-Once the stain has dried, apply a flower stencil design to the ends of the crate. Start by taping the stencil onto the end of the crate, centering in the middle.

- Place a small amount of Coral and Water Lily outdoor paint onto a paper plate (or sheet of palette paper).

Step 3
- Load Water Lily onto a foam pouncer and pounce the paint onto the stencil in the center of the flower. Continue pouncing the paint towards the tips of the flower petals.
TIP: To create crisp clean stencil lines, ensure paint does not seep under the stencil. Loading too much paint onto the foam pouncer can cause paint to seep under the stencil.

-  Load Coral outdoor paint onto another foam pouncer and apply the paint to the outside of the flower along the tips of the flower petals, lightly blending the paint colors together by slightly overlapping while you pounce on the paint. This overlapping will create an ombre effect with the paint. The tips of the flowers should be darker than the center of the flower.

- Carefully peel away the stencil from the wood crate. Set crate aside to fully dry.
