Step 1
SIZE: One size to fit bust measurement 32-48”

GAUGE: 8 sts and 7 rows = 4” in pat

Front: Ch 86.
**1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *1 dc in next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of chain. Turn. 85 sts.
2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *1 sc in next dc. 1 dc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *1 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.**
Rep 2nd and 3rd rows for pat until work from beg measures 24” , ending on a WS row.
Step 2
Shape neck: 1st row: (RS). Pat 36 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
2nd row: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.
4th row: As 2nd row. 34 sts rem.
Cont even in pat until total length measures 27” [68.5 cm]. Fasten off.
 
1st row: (RS). Skip next 9 sts. Join yarn with sl st to next st. Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to end of row. Turn.
2nd row: Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to end of row. Turn.
4th row: As 2nd row. 34 sts rem.
Cont even in pat until total length measures 27” [68.5 cm]. Fasten off.
Step 3
Back: Rep from ** to ** as given for Front. Cont in pat until total length measures same as Front to shoulder. Fasten off.
Sew shoulder seams.
Step 4
Collar: 1st rnd: (RS). Join yarn with sl st in center st of back neck edge. Ch 2. Work 56 hdc evenly around neck edge. Join with sl st to first hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in same st as last sl st. *1 dcfp around post of next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 dcfp around post of last hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc.
3rd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in same st as last sl st. *1 dcfp around post of next dcfp. 1 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * to last dcfp. 1 dcfp around post of last dcfp. Join with sl st to first hdc.
Rep last rnd until Collar measures 7½" . Fasten off.

Step 5
Fringe (Optional): Cut 44 (48) pieces of yarn 12½" (14") long. Holding 2 lengths together, fold in half forming a loop on one end.  Working along short end of scarf, place fringe pieces evenly spaced by inserting crochet hook into short end of scarf; from back to front pull the looped end of fringe partially through the edge. Pass the loose ends through the loop, being sure to keep ends even. Pull taut.
