You're somewhat experienced with the skills necessary to complete this project, but you haven't mastered all the elements, yet.
fall floral macramé hanging
This large yarn and floral statement is the perfect accent for a living room or large open wall. Customize the yarn or flowers to match your style.
Step 1 |
Look for a long stick in nature that works with your home décor style. |
Step 2 |
Choose the yarn(s) you would like to feature. Consider different textures to add interest like macramé string, chunky yarn and wool yarn. |
Step 3 |
Determine how long you want your yarn strands and about how wide you would like the drape. Cut the strands and attach to the stick with a lark’s head knot. Layer in shorter strands between the longer strands for a full look. TIP: To tie a lark’s head knot, fold your yarn in half and lay the folded area under the stick. Lift the two strands and place through the loop over the stick and pull. Repeat until you have an idea of how wide you desire the drape. |
Step 4 |
Once you like the yarn base, lay eucalyptus over the stick. Cut down the stems and use floral wire to attach. |
Step 5 |
Add floral to the top and wire in place. Choose floral stems that naturally drape to accent the vertical flow. Continue to add floral pieces that accent the overall look. |
Step 6 |
Take a photo of your creation and determine if you would like to add more floral or not. TIP: If needed trim the yarn across the bottom as desired or leave organic and textured. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
