father's day: daddy clay dish

Tell Dad thanks for all he does with a helpful and decorative dish made just for him.
Step 1
Scoop out clay to make a ball about the size of a child's fist. Work the clay with your hands until it is soft enough to begin sculpting.

Start with the clay in a ball, then start pushing down into the middle of the ball using your thumbs. Continue doing this all the way around the ball until you start to form a shallow bowl.

Dip your fingers into water and gently smooth out the clay. Try not to get the clay too wet. Keep forming the bowl shape with your fingers by pushing and pinching the clay.

Step 2
Once you are happy with your bowl, use the tip of a toothpick and lightly draw letters into the clay to spell a name.

Let the bowl dry overnight.

Once the bowl is completely dry, paint the center using Snow Pea acrylic paint, or color of choice. Let dry.

Paint the inner rim and around the outside of the dish using blue acrylic paint, or color of choice. Let dry.
