father's day from here to there wood frame
No matter how far away you may be, this fun frame will always remind dad that you love him.
Step 1 |
Total Time (Including Dry Time): 3½ hours Print the US map template from michaels.com and cut out the two states you've selected. Set aside. TIP: You may find it necessary to resize the printed template slightly, depending on the states you’ve chosen. |
Step 2 |
Using a foam brush, paint the entire wood frame (front, sides and back) with chalkboard paint and let dry for an hour. |
Step 3 |
Add a second coat and let dry for another hour. |
Step 4 |
Take the first of the two states you've cut out, and hold it in place at the corner of the frame. Use a pencil to trace around the entire state. Repeat this step for the second state, placing it at the opposite corner of the frame, as pictured. |
Step 5 |
With fine tip markers, draw over the pencil line for each state: one state in blue and one in green, or color of choice. |
Step 6 |
Draw a red heart where your city/your loved one’s city is in each state, and fill in the heart with red paint marker. With chisel tip markers in the same color as the outline, color in each state’s interior. Let dry for one hour. |
Step 7 |
Use chalk marker to draw dashed lines from one state to the other. Make loops, swirls and hearts on your way. |
